School begins at 8:55! Students arriving after 8:55 need to stop in the office for a late pass. Most students enjoy arriving a little early so they can unpack and visit with friends before our day of instruction begins.
If your child has a fever, he/she may not return to school until fever free for 24 hours (without medication).
Upon returning to school from an absence, please send in a written note indicating the days of absence and the reason. If a note is not sent, the absence will be marked as "unlawful". An e-mail is not acceptable as a note per FCPS policy. I, however, do appreciate an e-mail to give me a heads up that your child will be out!
Birthdays are celebrated by announcing them on the school-wide morning announcements. We also sing to the special person. You may send in a small NON-food treat if you want to share your child's special day with the class. (ex-fancy pencils, stickers, party favors)
School lunches cost $2.05. If your child is allergic to a food item, please notify the cafeteria so the account can be flagged for the allergy. Also, if you prefer that your child not purchase snacks (ice cream, chips, cookies, fruit by the foot, Gatorade) please send a note so his/her account can be flagged. If you have your child's account flagged for no snacks, but occasionally a snack is OK, just send in the money on that day. Also if your child does not eat particular foods for other reasons, his/her account can be flagged for it. (Such as vegetarian, no pork, no milk)
Homework books are due in the morning of the last school day of the week-usually Friday. That gives me time to check the work and glue in the next assigments.
Scholastic book orders can be placed by you at home (online) or you can send a check or cash with the order to school in your child's take home folder. Scholastic books are a great, inexpensive way to build your child's library! If you are ordering books as a gift or a surprise, please send me a note! I will call you when the order is in and we can agree on a discreet pick-up!
If your child is home with a communicable condition (such as strep throat, pink eye, lice) please call the school nurse and let her know. This helps greatly in preventing a school-wide outbreak.
Please inform the main office or me of any changes of importance-such as phone numbers, new address, emergency contacts, diagnosed allergies. This can help so much in the event of an early school closing or your child having a medical emergency.
If your child is going home with a friend for a playdate, please send in a note. There needs to be notes from both families before your child is released to another adult.
More important information will be added as needed!
